A nationwide survey by the National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS) revealed that one in every five Indian adolescents (aged 13-17 years) suffers from significant mental health problems, including depression and anxiety disorders.

A study by the Indian Journal of Psychiatry reported increased levels of anxiety, depression, and stress due to disruptions in schooling, social isolation, and uncertainty about the future brought forth by the pandemic.
